Sleeping diagonally - Lying down

Sleeping at an angle already helped our ancestors!

Health and sleep experts have confirmed that sleeping at an angle is better for our health and sleep.

Prof. Dr. med. Karl Hecht can confirm the following:

Improvements in

  • Heartburn
  • Reflux
  • nocturnal urge to urinate
  • Prostate complaints
  • Migraine
  • Headache
  • Low blood pressure
  • High blood pressure
  • Cardiovascular complaints
  • Sleep apnoea
  • blocked nasal cavities
  • vegetativer disbalance

are possible.

As early as the 3rd millennium before the birth of Christ, people were already sleeping at an angle. This has been proven by archaeological findings. More than 200 years ago, the naturopath Hufeland warned people not to sleep horizontally. Since then, several researchers have dealt with this issue.

Doctors often recommend elevating only the upper body for heart and breathing problems.

However, this is not an optimal and ergonomically good sleeping position, because raising the head adjustment or placing a wedge pillow underneath creates an unnatural "kink" in the upper spine during the all-important regeneration phase. This often leads to tension in the neck and shoulder area, which further disturbs sleep and the resulting pain.

The scientists Singer and Grismeijer have shown in numerous studies that the usual horizontal, flat sleeping position is a cause of many complaints,
such as

  • Migraine
  • Alzheimer's
  • Sleep apnoea
  • Impotenz
  • up to the stroke

may be. Why?

When lying flat, a zero gravity field is created.

As a result, more blood is shifted to the head and thus to the brain, which is even intensified if the foot is elevated. The increased intracranial pressure can trigger many functional disorders.

For people with a lack of exercise or who are overweight, horizontal sleeping can lead to health problems in particular.

Other experiences from sleeping at an angle are:

  • Improving overall regeneration
  • Reduces heartburn or reflux
  • Warm feet faster - even in winter
  • in the morning often no more dizziness with low blood pressure
  • positive influence on back and spine problems
  • Improvement of snoring, sleep apnoea and breathing problems
  • Improvement of kidney and bladder function
  • Better detoxification of the body during sleep
  • No puffy face or eyes after sleep
  • positive for prostate health
  • positive influence on heart, circulation and high blood pressure
  • Improvement of blood circulation and micro-circulation
  • Support for scoliosis, kyphosis and lordosis
  • positive influence on the blood sugar level - important for diabetics

The experts advise sleeping at an angle permanently.

Especially people with sleep or health disorders without a known cause should try sleeping at an angle.

Please inform your doctor or therapist that you sleep at an angle so that he or she can adjust the treatment accordingly. Often, sleeping at an angle can also reduce medication.

If you have thrombosis or other reasons why your legs should normally be elevated over an incline, ask your doctor. If he or she is already familiar with or briefly engaged in inclined sleeping, he or she will be able to weigh up whether you may try lying downhill.
